LAURYN'S LAW

Lauryn’s Law, Inc is a nonprofit organization that advocates and provides support to youth suffering with Mental Illness. Our goals are to bring awareness to depression through education and resources by offering a safe environment for young people in crisis, to share their voice and be heard.

Lauryn’s Law offers two types of training.

The first is a curriculum, based on recognizing bullying, how to recognize signs of depression, how to be compassionate, statistics, and resources that are available.  This training is developed from Linda and Kelley specifically and based on their experiences and knowledge that they have gained in their journey on the path of survival of depression and suicide.

The second training that we offer is QPR (Questions Persuade Refer) training.  Those that complete this training will become certified gatekeepers. This is a licensed training program that will teach you how to ask the hard question of anyone that you feel is contemplating suicide, how to connect with them to persuade them to get help, and then how to do a soft hand off and refer them to a professional.

Each class is one hour.  Please contact us via the form below.  Cost is determined by class size and location.

Youth Suicide Warning Signs

A search of possible youth suicide warning signs on the internet produces an enormous list, most of which are based on speculation and anecdotal report and not derived from the best available evidence. In 2012, leaders from the American Association of Suicidology (AAS) and the National Center for the Prevention of Youth Suicide (NCPYS) endeavored to create a national consensus around youth warning signs.  To that end, AAS and NCPYS convened a panel of national and international experts to resolve this problem.  The purpose of this process was to help the public better understand the way youth think, feel, and behave prior to making life-threatening suicide attempts and inform them about how to effectively respond. Further, they sought to promote a clear and consistent message about what the true warning signs of suicide are for youth.
